Nurse Practitioner Licensing Guide for the state of New Hampshire
Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) – the APRN license is required to work as a nurse practitioner – are professionals licensed to perform tasks that are not within the scope of an ordinary registered nurse (RN) upon the fulfillment of certain requirements. These requirements are spelled out by the regulatory agency for the nursing practice in a given state. In New Hampshire, this agency is called the Board of Nursing and it functions under the Office of Professional Licensure and Certification.
The board shoulders the responsibility of maintaining the standard of nursing practice at all levels in the state. This is done majorly by licensing which acts as a screen to prevent the entry of unqualified members of the public into the field of nursing in the state. The board receives applications for RN and APRN licenses among others and after these applications have been adequately reviewed, successful applicants are issued licenses.
