To provide financial assistance to students who are in need.
Applicants must be African American with permanent residency in the District of Columbia or one of the adjacent counties of the State of Maryland (Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles, Howard and Montgomery, Prince Georges); must be graduating senior, currently enrolled in a high school in the District of Columbia or one of the adjacent counties of the State of Maryland; must be in good academic standing with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.8 (on a scale of 4.0).
Recipients are selected based on financial need.
