To foster and encourage superior students to conduct doctoral work in health sciences librarianship or information science by providing support to individuals who have been admitted to candidacy.
Applicant must be a graduate of an ALA-accredited school of library science; a candidate in a Ph.D. program focusing on biomedical and health-related information science and a U.S. or Canadian citizen of permanent residence status; must be a member of MLA.
Preference is given to those applicants who have completed at least 75 percent of their coursework and dissertation prospectus either approved or in the approval process.
